DESCRIPTION
BSMS staff, students and others from the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton are invited to attend a talk on Monday 27 November titled 'Diversity in Medicine Talk Series presents: The Science behind Unconscious Bias'.
The talk will take place at 12pm in the Chowen Lecture Theatre, Medical Teaching Building.
Speakers will include:

Dr Sarah Garfinkel, who will present her research on racial bias and the heartbeat.

Malcolm Reed or Tom Ormerod (Head of School of Psychology) on Unconscious bias in treatment decisions in breast cancer patients.

Dr Pamela Kea, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology, School of Global Studies on race and migrants/asylum seekers.

Dr Arianne Shahvisi who will discuss unconscious bias from a philosophy/ethics perspective.
Refreshments will be provided in the foyer afterwards.
