GenPORT e-discussion Gender Dimension in Research Content and Process: the Research Performing Organisations Perspectives

Submitted by arroyo_lidia on Thu, 02/09/2017 - 20:33

Join experts from across the globe to discuss the Gender Dimension in Research Content and Process from the perspective of Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) needs and opportunities.

Online discussion, 15th February 2017, 2:00 - 4:00pm (CET time)

Integrating the gender dimension into the research process and content means integrating sex and gender analysis into research. How are knowledge, theories, concepts, methodologies and language used in science gendered?

This online discussion is designed to help advance and realize actions to accommodate the role of gender in research content, process and impact by bringing together representatives from RPOs to share their expertise, experience and views as to what is possible and practical.  We invite genPORT users who have an interest in how this goal can be effectively achieved to join the discussion, learn from the experts, contribute their expertise, and enable lasting change to take place.

Discussions will be framed around following topics:

  • measures to promote systematic analysis of gender dimension in research content, process and outcomes: the relevance of gender for the construction of scientific knowledge
  • measures to ensure that applicants consider the role of sex-gender factors in research content
  • measures to develop evidence showing strategic benefits of gender sensitive and responsive research

Experts will outline recent developments and discussions in their organisations, giving, where possible, concrete examples of the directions and actions taken. Participants are invited to actively contribute to the discussion presenting their own research, methodologies, or posing questions to the expert panel.

This discussion is part of a series of on-line events enabled by the GenPORT portal to help disseminate gender mainstreaming best practice, and to share growing expertise on topics of mutual interest.
