The OECD Gender Data Portal includes selected indicators shedding light on gender inequalities in education, employment and entrepreneurship. While much progress has been accomplished in recent years, there are still relevant dimensions of gender inequalities that are poorly monitored and measured. The Portal is thus a work in progress, that aims at progressively filling these gaps through new indicators. The data cover OECD member countries, as well as Russia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, and South Africa.

Education
Access to and graduation from the various levels of education is closely monitored in all countries, also thanks to the inclusion of an education target in the Millennium Development Goals. Statistics on the factors causing early school-leaving of boys and girls are less widely available.
Employment
While gender differences in access to employment are well documented, there is much less information on imbalances in the quality of jobs held by women and men. Moreover, better data on time use and on unpaid work are needed in order to document the wider productive role of women in the economy.
Entrepeneurship
There is little tradition of statistical analysis of gender equality in entrepreneurship, partly because firm-level data seldom provide information on the owners of the businesses. More investments in data collection are needed to understand gender-specific disadvantages in entrepreneurship.
