Prof Dr Marina Subirats

Prof Dr Marina Subirats is Emeritus Professor of Sociology, Autonomous University of Barcelona. She was the Director of the Women 's Institute (Ministry of Social Affairs), from 1993 to 1996 and held different positions in Barcelona City Council: Councilor for Education (1999 - 2006), President of the Council of Sants Montjuïc (1999 - 2003) Council of Nou Barris (2003-2006) and fifth Deputy Mayor (2003-2006).

She has written different books on gender and sociology of education. In 2006 she received the distinction of the Creu de San Jordi Prize. In 2011 the Catalan Association of Sociology awarded Marina Subirats with the Catalonia Prize for Sociology. In 2017 she has received the Prize in Journalism María Luz Morales.
