Building a European Network of Academic Mentoring Programmes for Women Scientists

The project aims at strengthening the position of women scientists in academia and leading and decision-making positions, through the instrument of mentoring, by building up a network of Mentoring programmes supporting junior women scientists from various regions in the wider Europe, through the:
A. Exchange, among mentoring programmes, of experience and best practices in setting up and implementing mentoring programmes for high potential junior women scientists at local, regional and cross-national/transnational levels, and knowledge transfer at a wider European level;
B. Definition of means and long-lasting structures of cooperation among mentoring programmes for high potential junior women scientists on a wider European level;
C. Strengthening women's impact on science decision-making and policy definition through mentoring and definition of standards for academic women scientists' support, by exchange of experiences and networking;
D. Dissemination of best practices, guidelines and standards at institutional, national and European level.

By coordinating mentoring programmes for women scientists, the strategic objective of the project is to contribute to increase gender equality and to improve the position of women in science in the wider Europe, to contribute to create an involving society and, as a result, to help structuring the European Research Area.
