COVID-19 crisis shifts the career paradigm of women and maligns the labor market: A gender lens

This study first to document the effects of COVID-19 on women participation in the labour market. We have used the ILO and World Bank data to examine how the recession affects women employment? And how current pandemic (COVID-19) affect women employment? The results show that current pandemic effect lower-middle-income, middle income and upper-middleincome group countries. Moreover, in lower-income countries, women participation in the labour market is already lower, and the current pandemic could further widen the gender gap. Among all women are associated with informal employment in any sector, particularly tourism, food, and small enterprise would be suffered the most.
