Submitted by Paulina Sekula on Thu, 09/10/2020 - 10:39
About (English version)

In tune with the ERC's mission and EU Commission goals, this workshop aims at creating a platform to showcase and discuss innovative approaches to address gender dimensions in research. Considering gender differences may add more value to research in some fields. The ultimate goal of the workshop is to raise awareness on how gender dimension, in the way research is designed, conducted and administered, influences the quality and usefulness of the results. The workshop is planned to take place in Brussels at the ERC. However, due to the current circumstances, it may take place online. Updates will be published regularly. EVENTS DETAILSStart date: 16 November, 2020 - 08:30End date: 16 November, 2020 - 18:30Organizer: European Research CouncilLocation: ERC Executive Agency, Covent Garden (Auditorium 25th floor), Place Rogier 16, 1049 BrusselsPlease register here: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/ERC-Sex-and-Gender-dimension-in-fr… AGENDA08:30 - 9:00 Registration09:00 - 09:15 Welcome address by Barbara ROMANOWICZ, Member of the ERC Scientific Council, and Isabelle VERNOS, Center for Genomic Regulation (ES)09:15 - 10:15 Keynote: Sabine OERTELT-PRIGIONE, Radboud University (NL)10:15 - 10:45 Coffee break 10:45 - 12:15  | Session 1: Gender in medicine and medical careModerator: Paola BOVOLENTA, Member of the ERC Scientific CouncilRapporteur: Philippe CUPERS, ERCSpeaker: Natasha KARP, AstraZeneca (UK), “Sex bias in preclinical research: why it exists and why change has been slow”ERC grantees:Irene MIGUEL-ALIAGA, Imperial College London (UK)Project: IntraGutSex, “The sex of organs” Ted MORROW, Karlstad University (SE)Project: 2Sexes_1Genome, "Sex-specific genetic effects on fitness and human disease"Nabila BOUATIA-NAJI, Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (FR)Project:  ROSALIND, "Genetic investigation of challenging and atypical vascular diseases, predominant in women" 12:15 - 13:15 Lunch13:15 - 14:45 | Session 2: Gender, demographics and behaviourModerator: Manuel ARELLANO, Member of the ERC Scientific CouncilRapporteur: Angela LIBERATORE, ERCSpeaker: Nicola FUCHS-SCHÜNDELN, Goethe University Frankfurt (DE), “The gender dimension in economic research”ERC Grantees:Judi MESMAN, Leiden University College (NL)Project: Boys will be boys?, “The childhood origins of gendered societal roles” Iñaki PERMANYER, Center for Demographic Studies (ES)Project: EQUALIZE, "Equalizing or disequalizing?
