Equality and Diversity: Progress and challenges in leading researchers

Submitted by Henrietta Dale on Tue, 11/25/2014 - 16:48

Where are we now and where are we going?

Vitae is pleased to announce our flagship conference on equality and diversity within the research environment.  This conference will bring expertise and insights from our Every Researcher Counts programme and showcase our new resources for principal investigators and research staff, which will cover equality and diversity across all 9 protected characteristics.

Presentations will assess the current climate and progress made, including looking at sector drivers, mainstreaming and unconscious bias; with a particular focus on where we are now and what still needs to be done.  The conference will unveil Vitae's Actions for All, a series of pamphlets prepared from various stakeholder perspectives.  It will also highlight the outcomes of a research project, by Oxford Brookes, on developing good practice to advance equality in research careers.

The Every Researcher Counts project is funded by RCUK, HEFCE, HEFCW, SFC and DELNI.

Speakers will include:

Professor Dianne Berry, University of Reading

Professor Athene Donald, University of Cambridge

Professor Yvonne Galligan, Queens University, Belfast

Hayley Parker, Stonewall

Professor Michelle Ryan, University of Exeter
