Fondé en 2012 à l’initiative de l’Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales du CNRS, l’Institut du Genre est un Groupement d’Intérêt Scientifique qui réunit 34 partenaires institutionnels.

Hébergé par la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Paris Nord, l’Institut travaille en synergie avec cette dernière.

S’appuyant sur des UMR et des équipes explicitement engagées dans la recherche sur le genre, il constitue un lieu de coordination, de référence et d’accueil scientifique des recherches françaises sur le genre et les sexualités.

The Gender Institute is a Scientific Interest Group (GIS) founded in 2012 by the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and bringing together 34 partner institutions. The Institute is hosted by and works together with the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Paris North. Composed of Joint Research Units (UMR), as well as research teams with an explicit focus on gender, the Institute represents a key reference in the coordination and scholarly reception of French research on gender and sexuality.
