Gender in Coronary Artery Disease (GENCAD)

The GenCAD project is an EU-funded multi-country consortium led by Charité which focuses on "Gender-specific mechanisms in coronary artery disease (CAD) in Europe”. Our project partners are the Berlin School of Public Health (DE), the European Association for Public Health (NL), the Andalusian School of Public Health (ES), Radboud University Medical Center (NL), and the Centre for Men’s Health (UK). This initiative is a pilot project and if successful, may serve as a template for the assessment of gender-specific aspects in other chronic diseases.

The goal of this project is to improve the understanding of sex and gender differences in chronic diseases, using CAD as an example to highlight these differences regarding treatment and prevention activities in European countries.

This conference will focus on gender-specific prevention, disease manifestations, treatments and outcomes, with the aim of increasing our target audience's awareness about these core elements. We aim to achieve a true representation of all member states, of health care representatives, of policy makers and patient representatives.
