Promotion of Gender Equality at EURAXESS and EQUAL-IST

Abstract:

European Research Area (ERA) objectives on gender equality have stressed the importance of promoting the results of the European Union (EU) projects that implement Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) through the EURAXESS network. EQUAL-IST (“Gender Equality Plans for Information Sciences and Technology Research Institutions”) is a project funded within the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme aimed at introducing structural changes at the six participating Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Information Sciences and Technology (IST) research institutions to enhance gender equality. The project is focused on the design and implementation of tailored GEPs, where the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter & Code) that support gender equality were acknowledged and followed. The results have been presented, among others, in the article “Gender Equality Plans at ICT / IST Research Institutions in Alignment with the C&C Principles” published on the EURAXESS website.

Objective:

The webinar objective is twofold. First, the webinar participants will gain insights into the promotion and support of gender equality at EURAXESS in general and within the EURAXESS TOP IV Project. Second, the six European research institutions participating in the EQUAL-IST project will share their experiences in introducing structural changes, as well as sustaining those changes, by implementing the Charter & Code principles that support gender equality and present first-hand examples of implemented activities.

Target Audience:

The webinar is targeted at both the EURAXESS network members and managers and the EQUAL-IST project consortium members.
