FEM POWER Saxony-Anhalt
About (English version):
FEM POWER is an ESF-funded statewide program to create and promote equal opportunities between women and men in science and research. The program was initiated by the Gender Research & Equal Opportunities Coordination Office in Saxony-Anhalt in cooperation with the Ministry of Economics, Science, and Digitization. It is anchored in the state program for gender equitable Saxony-Anhalt and is financed from the operational program ESF Saxony-Anhalt SCIENCE Equal Opportunities 2014 to 2022 with funds from the European Union.
The program enables a stronger structural anchoring and professionalization of equality work, which is the engine for a successful cultural change. The vision of FEM POWER is an equitable and diverse scientific system.
Who is FEM POWER?
The institutions involved include the two universities and the art academy of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, four universities of applied sciences, four non-university research institutions, and a university clinic. Further, a separate FEM POWER project tailored to the respective institution is being implemented at twelve scientific institutions in Saxony-Anhalt as part of the state program.
Goals:
• Increasing the attractiveness of Saxony-Anhalt as a science location and employer
• Attracting highly qualified early career scientists in Saxony-Anhalt and increasing the retention rate
• Increasing the competitiveness of universities and non-university research institutions
• Strengthening the acquisition of third-party funding
• Promotion of the MINT area and sustainable increase in the number of women in the MINT area
• Reduction in the underrepresentation of female researchers and scientists at individual career levels and / or in certain subjects
• Improving the ability to appoint professorships
