Meta-analysis of Gender and Science Research: Southern Country Group Report

This report analyses the literature on gender and science, produced over the past thirty years in
the so-called group of Southern European Countries, i.e. Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta,
Portugal, Spain and Turkey, that can be found in the Gender and Science Database (GSD)
developed within the framework of the activities of the Meta-analysis on gender and science
Project. The report summarises the main research strands and approaches, the most important
findings and identifies areas of research which are not adequately covered by the literature
collected and should be strengthened. It is mainly based on country level analyses carried out
by national social science correspondents and on the information contained in the GSD.
