Beginning with indigenous Australian issues and anthropology, Dr Drucza’s career in development has focused on the needs of the marginalized and excluded. At AusAID she was pivotal in placing women’s economic empowerment firmly on the agency’s policy agenda and for researching women’s entrepreneurship in seven Pacific island countries. She lived in Nepal for 5.5 years where she worked for SNV as a gender and inclusion adviser, on social policy issues for UNICEF and explored grievance redress mechanisms for the World Bank. She offered technical assistance as a consultant for various organisations and is currently living in Ethiopia and manages a gender, youth and inclusion in agriculture research project in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Ethiopia. She is interested in the inter-relationship between agency and structures of power, social norms, social policy, building inclusive institutions, markets and states and women’s economic empowerment.

Managed a BMZ funded research program on gender, youth and inclusion in wheat-based livelihoods in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Ethiopia. Literature reviews, policy, stakeholder and gender analysis, meta-analysis of evaluations, gender mainstreaming assessments and gender audits, research design, tools, guidelines, policy briefs, training and government capacity building, quantitative data analysis and qualitative research on social norms in agriculture. Managed budgets, staff, research teams and consultants. Developed an annual program and project specific work plans, compiled donor reports, wrote successful funding proposals.
