About you (please use English)
I am a sociologist of education who has worked in universities in the US, UK and Canada. My early scholarship was on gender and education, especially higher education, and I published a book in 1994 titled Gendered Education. I also focused on teachers' work and published an ethnographic study of teachers' workplace culture in an English primary school in 1999 titled The Realities of Teachers' Work. After moving to Canada in 1990, most of my research was in the higher education field, including studies of changing academic work, of women's leadership, of evaluative practices and of research management. While I have only written a few pieces that feature 'science' per se, most of my research is about social scientists. My interest in gender and women's lives permeates my work and I am especially interested in the broader sense of science as knowledge.
