About (original language)

European Network on Gender Equality in Higher Education was established after the first European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education, organised in Helsinki, Finland, in August 1998. It connects researchers, practitioners, administrators, academic leaders, policy makers and students across Europe and beyond, interested in and working on to promote gender equality in higher education. The network is connected by a listserv eq-uni, owned by the University of Helsinki. The eq-uni list in 2014 had over 500 subscribers from over 30 countries. The network has also contributed in organising, in partnership with local universities and organisers, seven subsequent not-for-profit European conferences since 1998, in Zúrich, Genoa, Oxford, Berlin, Stockholm, Bergen and Vienna. The organisation of each conference has been supported by universities, research councils, by relevant ministries and host cities in the host country.
