L'Institut Interuniversitari d'Estudis de Dones i Gènere (iiEDG) és un Institut creat a partir de la col·laboració de diversos grups de recerca pertanyents a set universitats catalanes. La iniciativa de crear un Institut interuniversitari que reunís tots o la gran majoria dels grups de recerca en estudis de dones i gènere de Catalunya té una llarga història. Es va concretar a mitjans de la dècada dels anys 2000, i el seu objectiu era fonamentalment el reconeixement i la institucionalització dels estudis de dones i gènere en l'àmbit de la universitat.
La participació d'investigadores i investigadors de disciplines molt diverses al si de l'iiEDG afavoreix la interdisciplinarietat, fonamental en els estudis de gènere. Així mateix, es tracta d'un nombrós equip d'expertes i experts amb una llarga experiència docent i una trajectòria de recerca reconeguda, pioner en el desenvolupament de projectes de recerca finançats en convocatòries competitives de nivell autonòmic, estatal i internacional.
L'iiEDG ha estat creat amb el suport moral i financer de l'Institut Català de les Dones i del Departament d'Innovació, Universitats i Empresa de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

The Inter-University Women and Gender Studies Institute (Institut Interuniversitari d'Estudis de Dones i Gènere – iiEDG) is an Institute created via a collaboration agreement between different research groups attached to seven Catalan universities. The initiative to create an inter-university institute that would bring together all, or most, of the research groups working on women and gender studies was born in the early 1990s, and its aim was essentially the recognition and institutionalisation of studies on women and gender in the university sphere.
The participation of researchers from very diverse disciplines within the iiEDG favours its inter-disciplinary approach, which is fundamental in gender studies. It has a large team of experts, each with a wealth of teaching experience and an acknowledged track record, and is a pioneer in the development of research projects financed through awards offered on a competitive basis at regional, state and international levels.
The iiEDG was created with the moral and financial support of the Catalan Women’s Institute and the Catalan Government’s Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise. The participating Catalan universities are: University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Girona, UPC-Barcelona Tech, Rovira i Virgili University, University of Vic, University of Lleida.
