About (English version)

The Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research at the University of Gothenburg has been commissioned to support the government initiative Gender Mainstreaming in Academia (GMA) during the period 2016–2019. The purpose of these guidelines handbook is to give the universities involved in the assignment an introduction to gender mainstreaming project an introduction. Most of the document presents a general model for the assessment of gendered inequalities, and there is a focus on a set of operational processes and guiding questions. The guiding questions target different parts of the organisation and point to possible directions for the work. Several of the questions require statistical material and in-depth analysis in order to suggest relevant strategies for change.
The guidelines are based on the Secretariat’s experiences from the related project Gender Mainstreaming in Government Agencies (GMGA), as well as the latest research on and evaluation of gender mainstreaming in public administration.
