Dr. Amber Fletcher, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Studies, University of Regina, Canada. Her interdisciplinary research employs qualitative methods to examine how climate change and major policy changes affect women in agriculture. Dr. Fletcher’s research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals and anthologies. She is a member of the United Nations World Water Assessment Programme’s international working group on gender and water indicators. Dr. Fletcher holds two medals from the Governor General of Canada for her work on gender equality and issues affecting women in agriculture.

Dr. Amber Fletcher is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Social Studies, University of Regina. She teaches courses in the Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Families, and Qualitative Research Methods. Her interdisciplinary research combines sociology, gender studies, and public policy to examine how macro-level changes in policy and climate affect the everyday lives of farm women and rural communities more broadly. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Regina (Regina, Canada), a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from York University (Toronto, Canada), and a Bachelor of Arts (High Honours) in Women’s Studies from the University of Regina. In 2014 Dr. Fletcher completed a postdoctoral research fellowship on an interdisciplinary, intercontinental study of the social effects of climate change in agricultural communities (North and South America). She has published her research in peer-reviewed international journals and anthologies.
