Alexandra M. Araújo, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Education at the Portucalense University, Porto, Portugal. She received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Minho, Portugal, and conducted her postdoctoral research in Educational Sciences at the same university. Her work is centered around student development and learning in higher education. She has an interest in the gendered construction of career choice and development in adolescence and young adulthood and gender asymmetries in STEM.

My background is in educational and career psychology. In my research, I am concerned with gendered career choice and development. I was involved in the project "Women in Science, Engineering, and Technologies: The leaky pipeline effect" (PIHM/GC/0035/2008, FCT) which focused on the continuous loss of women in STEM. My publications include papers in Studies in Higher Education, Educational Review, and Women's Studies International Forum.
