Watch this excellent summary by Dr. Jacques Mairesse on the causes of the productivity gap between women and men scientists. Dr. Mairesse  is professor at CREST (ENSAE, Paris), UNU-MERIT ( Maastricht University), and NBER (USA). In this interview he will expose recent findings regarding the explanatory factors of gender productivity gap in science in terms of scientific publishing.

Dr. Mairesse identifies that inequality in promotion systems in academy and the higher engagement of women in family and children’s care are the main factors that explain the lower productivity of women in terms of scientific publications. In this short interview he furthermore shows that the productivity gap would disappear if gender equality would be a reality within science.
