About you (please use English):
Angela Genova conducts research on welfare policies in a comparative perspective with a focus on health policy and social work applying gender perspective. She has gained expertise in the analysis of public policies through international research experience and participation in European research networks and training. She has been scientific director and coordinator of several European projects (Progress, 7th FP, Daphne). The management organizational activities in academia and third sector organisatons have fostered her communication skills and competencies in the coordination between various public and private institutions.
She has worked on the following European projects:

DETAILS FOR THE EU PROJECT
Better Health for Better Integration Building capacities to improve health equity for ethnic minorities women.
The project has the aim of reducing health inequalities among women belonging to ethnic minority groups in countries covered by the action. In particular the action aimed at increasing the capacity in: 1) identifying and understanding health inequalities; 2) mapping and assessing the existing institutional and non institutional framework; 3) learning from other partners and countries experiences through the identification and exchange of good practices; 4) identifying and developing relevant integrated strategies that take into account the specific health needs and barriers encountered by ethnic minority women in accessing health services; 5) raising general awareness, stimulating debate, promoting information on health inequalities
Citizens' rights and constitutional affairs gender equality empowerment of Roma women within the European framework of national Roma inclusion strategies study
This study focuses on the concept of empowerment of Romani women to analyse the existing living conditions of Romani women, interpret the national Roma inclusion strategy and to scrutinise good practices. The analysis shows that the present living conditions of Romani women in European Member States call for intervention. Romani women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming approaches have to be fostered in National Roma Inclusion Strategies.

Barabal: Gender Mainstreaming in Roma Education.
The Project Barabal aims at improving the access and stay in lifelong learning of Roma girls, youth and women in socio-economic disadvantage in Europe by integrating a gender approach into the policies, programmes and work methodologies related to improving education of Roma in social exclusion.
The general aims of the Project are:
- To contribute to the improvement of levels of education access, stay and success of Roma population, especially female Roma population in social exclusion in Europe.
- To contribute to the improvement of literacy and basic skills of Roma women in social exclusion.
- To support policies, programmes and initiatives of prevention, monitoring and control of absenteeism and education failure of Roma girls in social exclusion.
- To contribute to the access to lifelong learning of Roma girls and women in social exclusion in Europe.
- To promote the stay and transition to following educational phases/stages of Roma girls, young and adult women in social exclusion.
- To contribute to the awareness and empowerment of Roma women about their rights, skills and abilities to participate actively in their society and community.
- To empower young Roma women and men as actors for change and equality within their community and environment.
- To reinforce knowledge and awareness about Roma culture, history and diverse situation in Europe.
Empow_air (daphne) Empowering Women Against Intimate partnership violence in Roma communities.
EMPOW-AIR is implemented to prevent and fight against violence against children, youngsters and women and to protect victims of groups at risk. In particular, Roma women, as members of a socially-excluded ethnic minority, are highly vulnerable to male violence.
The aims of the project were:
- To identify the main features of male violence against women (MVAW)
- To define means for operators working with Roma people
- To promote awareness-raising of Roma men and responsible politicians on the topic
- To perform research on the prevalence and characteristics of MVAW in intimate partnerships within the Roma communities.
- To generate tools that assist professionals working with the Roma population in the detection and prevention of MVAW.
- To raise awareness on male violence against Roma women, and sensitise professionals working with the Roma, Roma men, and policy-makers about the need to promote actions in this area
To promote the empowerment of Roma women as a tool to foster protection from MVAW
GendeRIS The gender dimension in Anti-Trafficking Policies and Prevention Activities in Romania, Italy and Spain
This project aims at defining a methodological approach and a toolkit for gender sensitive policy-making and action planning for the prevention of trafficking in human beings. The ultimate result of the project is the reduction of demand and supply of goods and services provided by victims of trafficking by making prevention policies and actions more effective as they take into account the gender dimension. The provision tools for prevention that integrate the gender dimension is meant improve stakeholders’ capability to prevent trafficking in human beings. Project activities focus on the development of tools for a gender sensitive prevention approach.
GENISLAB The Gender in Science and Technology LAB
The GENIS-LAB project aims to implement structural changes in the work organisation within a group of selected scientific organisations in order to overcome the factors that limit the participation of women in research. The project relies on the synergy among the seven scientific project partners, and technical partners providing and sharing innovative tools and methodologies for gender mainstreaming in science. The project envisages the implementation of some common actions: gender audit, budget analysis and exchange of good practices aiming to fight against gender discrimination.
Collection of good practices on non-monetary measures in the area of Women and Poverty
As part of a long-term gender mainstreaming programme of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), this Project aims at collecting and disseminating effective approaches, tools and good practices of non-monetary measures to combat and reduce poverty and social exclusion, focusing on working-poor and migrant women, with a specific concern on Roma women. This project addresses the main challenges of the gendered effects of poverty and social exclusion, with the aim of developing consistent policies for gender equality and adopting a dual approach (gender mainstreaming and specific action in favour of women) in the broad scope of social and economic sectors (labour market, social security, pension schemes and care for the dependent among others).
